Ryan and Amanda explain the process of how to adopt in Ohio through Spirit of Faith Adoptions.  All hopeful adoptive parents must complete a home study.  This process takes some families up to 12 months to complete all of the required paperwork, however some have completed it much sooner than that.  As Ryan explains, all families are required to submit a lot of paperwork such as financial statements, bank records, tax forms and employment references to ensure that they can provide for a child.  Spirit of Faith Adoptions' staff visited with them in their home, interviewed them together and separately and completed a home safety audit to ensure that their home is safe. They also had their BCI and FBI background checks submitted to the agency.  In addition, Spirit of Faith Adoptions obtains references from their family, friends, neighbors, church and from we required childcare references from people that have observed the hopeful adoptive parents when working with or volunteering with children.  In addition to all of that, hopeful adoptive parents participate in Orientation to Infant Adoption where they hear a birth mother and an adoptive family talk about their adoption experiences and they receive pre-adoption training which is required for adoptive parents in Ohio. Spirit of Faith Adoptions' staff really gets to know each of our waiting families and provide support during their adoption journeys and after they become parents through adoption.  If you are pregnant and want more information about adoption in Ohio, please contact Spirit of Faith Adoptions:  866-414-3021 in Columbus, Newark and Mansfield, 419-843-5355 in Toledo, 330-315-5077 in Akron, Medina or Cleveland, or visit our website:
